What is the difference between Ozone 7 and Ozone 7 Advanced?

The iZotope Ozone 7 is a complete mastering system in a single integrated plug-in, it includes ten essential mastering tools: Vintage Limiter Module, an updated Maximizer with IRC IV, MP3/AAC Export, Equaliser, Multiband Dynamics, Multiband Stereo Imaging, Post Equaliser, Multiband Harmonic Exciter, Reverb, and Dithering, of which all include presets.

Ozone 7 Advanced adds five additional component plug-ins which includes; Vintage Tape Module, Vintage Compressor, Vintage EQ, Codec Preview and Insight a metering plug-in. Each plug-in has extended features in every module, and an entire suite of configurable meters. This means that with Ozone 7 Advanced you can insert your favourite individual modules into your mix, along with many more additional features.

With Ozone 7 Advanced you have access to the powerful  Meter Bridge, which provides you with a full suite of customisable audio analysis tools. This allows you to visually monitor your mix throughout the entire mastering process, whether you are making adjustments, troubleshooting problematic mixes, or comparing your mixes to reference tracks.

The all new Vintage series update in Ozone 7  includes the following new features; Vintage Limiter, Vintage Tape Module (advanced), Vintage Compressor (advanced), and the Vintage EQ (advanced), provided and all new tonality to your masters. The Vintage Limiter inspired by the Fairchild 670, which was introduced in Ozone 6.1 is taken to a new level in the Ozone 7 update, which has now been expanded out into its own module which now has faster and slower settings. Influenced by the Studer A810, the Vintage Tape module bring a depth and warmth to the mix. By taking advantage of the new speed setting (options between 15 IPS and 30 IPS), bias control and saturation settings you can produce a more rounded sounding master. With the combination of the Vintage bundle you can achieve an accurate vintage emulation in the comfort of your own home.

Ozone's new updated Maximizer is a powerful tool which allows you to keep your master from clipping while dramatically lifting the perceived overall audio level. Ozone 7 and Ozone 7 Advanced both feature the third generation of the iZotope proprietary IRC (Intelligent Release Control) Limiter, which uses an advanced psychoacoustic model for transparent limiting. This is achieved by running several different loudness control algorithms in parallel, IRC IV intelligently chooses the algorithm in real-time that produces the lowest psychologically perceivable artifacts. With Ozone 7 Advanced, the Mazimizer also features a transient recovery function which adds emphasis to transients to help preserve rhythmic detail while maximising loudness.

The Multiband Dynamics module is one of the most powerful tools in Ozone 7 and Ozone 7 Advanced. It incorporates compression, limiting, expansion and gating. Finely tune the dynamics of your mixes with independent control over up to four frequency bands. With the interactive Threshold control, set threshold points for the Limiter, Compressor, and Gate while never taking your eyes off of the gain reduction meter. Superimposed loudness history (histogram) and input/gain reduction meters provide extra insight while making your detailed Dynamics tweaks. Additionally, with the Ozone 7 Advanced the multiband dynamics module includes True Envelope Detection, to prevent aliasing or artifacts that RMS detection can cause, a Detection Circuit Filter, which allows for a variable slope high-pass or tilt filter to reduce pumping and a Variable Knee control for every dynamic band for even more flexible compression.

Along with the Ozone 7 and Ozone 7 Advanced for mastering, you can enhance your tracks further in the mixing stage with the brand new iZotope Alloy 2.
